It’s hard to believe that Chloe and I have been working together for almost 7 years now. She has and is developing into a truly wonderful music artist with a real drive for approaching her music in the way she wants to and a passion for all things music. Love, Life & Lies is Chloe’s latest and possibly greatest album, it’s certainly been a worthwhile and memorable journey for all involved in the project. Here are some words from that lady of the moment…
”The idea for this album first came to me maybe three years ago. I'd written a collection of songs which felt quite different to all the ones I'd created before. These tracks had three recurring themes flowing through them so I grouped them into separate EPs.
Inevitably, each EP has a dark twist. Love is tainted by heartbreak and heartache. Life is overshadowed by death. and Lies is much less about the lies we tell others than the lies we tell ourselves.
I remember originally feeling quite strongly about which song belonged on which EP but it’s become so obvious over time that no song fits neatly into one box. The lines between love life and lies in my songs are very hazy. Maybe the world is a little bit like that. There is love in life and lies, there are lies in love and life and life is filled with love and lies. nothing is really ever that clear.
Over these last few years, as songs have moved from one ep to another, I've matured and become more hopeful and more cynical at the same time. I've found strengths that I never knew I had, weaknesses that I wish I didn't and discovered light and darkness about the world that I never thought existed.
These songs don’t appear in the exact order they were written, but listening back, I can see the journey I've been on, the lessons I've learned and the answers I’m still yet to find.
